Sweeping and Wiping up Debris

As a part of your routine cleaning, add in time to sweep up or wipe down your stamped concrete. This step will get rid of any dirt, dust, or debris on your concrete surfaces. After any events during which you and your family gathered and enjoyed the areas of your home with concrete surfaces, be sure to clean up afterwards. Grab you broom or clean sponge and sweep the patio and/or wipe your stamped concrete countertops.

Mopping Patios and Other Concrete Surfaces

Using a wet mop is the next step in cleaning your stamped concrete. Partially fill a bucket with warm water. You can use a sponge mop or anything similar. Do not select any mops that would be abrasive. Adding this step will remove dirt from your concrete patios and pool side areas. Be sure to rinse your mop in clean water as part of the cleaning process.

Using Soaps to Clean Stamped Concrete

Sometimes your stamped concrete will need a more thorough cleaning than sweeping and mopping with warm water. You can add a mild non-abrasive soap or detergent to your bucket of water. This addition will most often remove any spots that were not removed with plain water.

If this step does not completely clean the area to your satisfaction, consider using a nylon-bristle brush. Apply some of the non-abrasive soap directly on the brush. Scrub the area. Remove the soap with warm water and a mop.

Do not use an abrasive cleaner. Those can damage the finish on the sealed concrete.

Removing Stains from Stamped Concrete

Even with the best of care, sometimes stains happen. Perhaps leaves accumulated for too long on your patio and now there is a mark left after your cleaning. Sometimes spilled wine or juices will leave behind marks.

The best way of maintaining concrete is to wipe up any spills as soon as possible. If not, use non-abrasive detergent with grease-cutting properties. Apply the cleaner directly on the spot. Let the soap sit for a couple of minutes. Add warm water to the soap that has been sitting on the spot. Grab your nylon-bristle hand brush and scrub the area. Clean up the soapy water with clean warm water and a mop.

Do not use a wire brush to scrub your stamped concrete. This can scrape the surface area. Not only will the wire brush leave marks, but it can also damage the protective sealant on your stamped concrete.

Enjoy your clean stamped concrete!
